Stop and Pray
Hey guys - found this image on flickr today (something I will not be able to do next week). I think it speaks to our fasting efforts quite succinctly. The simple message proposes a challenge to me. What will I do with the "stop" time normally spent reading or listening to music? Will I sleep, daydream or just zone out? My goal will be to spend time in prayer.

It is the end of the first day. I am a little hungry, but not too bad. They say when you fast that days 2-3 can be the most difficult. It was strange not to read the sports page either this morning, but I also spent more time reading the Bible and reflecting. Maybe there is something to this fasting business after all!!! Men, keep going!!! As we fast, we build spiritual strength for the future that God will redeem.
Other guys feel free to commnent. All you have to do is click on the comment and then create a google blog identity ( I just did it).
Day 2 of the fast - I can feel the loss now. A little hunger and a little curiosity about the Bulls and my beloved Twins, but nothing terrible. It is interesting as we fast, the toxins physically leave our body, but I also think the spiritual junk rises to the surface as well.I find myself just a little bit edgy and impatient.
Men, now is the time to guard against temptation. Satan would like nothing better than to trip us up. Walk humbly and keep replenishing yourself with activities, people and worship that will build you up. Keep it going!!!
